On 8/30, an incredible double feature at Megève Festival Savoy Truffle. First, a screening of Artur Schnabel: No Place of Exile. Then an encore of the Berlin concert featuring my filmed projections, pianist Markus Pawlik, singer Dietrich Henschel, and the Szymanowski Quartet. Dietrich and I will also be giving a talk the following day. Join us for a memorable few days in the French Alps!
On 11/29, the film will screen at America's oldest federal cultural institution, The Library of Congress, in Washington, D.C. Markus Pawlik and I will be on hand to introduce the film. The event starts at 630pm and is open to the public.

Producer Álvaro Fernández, DoP Michael Pessah, pianist Markus Pawlik, editor Marc Cohen, and I spent 18 months chasing the very complicated life of Artur Schnabel (musician, modernist, refugee) through some five different countries and half a dozen different narrative, documentary, and concert shoots. Mostly, we're grateful to ARTE and RBB for commissioning and seeing through what is essentially a multi-format experimental film about a multi-faceted musical experimenter. As Leon Fleisher so aptly observes in the film: "music [is about] the cosmic."
