UPDATED FILM & TV REEL

Newly updated film & TV reel: an excuse to reflect on so many thrilling collaborations with so many wonderful people in so many fascinating places.

SPECIAL PREVIEW SCREENING OF "NO PLACE OF EXILE" AT WALDHAUS SILS

Occasionally a physical location is so crucial, so impressive and specific and haunted, that it becomes a character in the film. That was the case with the Waldhaus Sils, and I'm excited to announce that, prior to its television premiere on Arte/RBB, No Place of Exile will be screened in the Swiss Engadin where we filmed it. If you're in the area in early September, I hope you'll join us for this special event.

"NO PLACE OF EXILE" TRAILER RELEASED; "DELPHINIUM" AT THE TATE BRITAIN

Coming soon to RBB / Arte in Germany and France; worldwide TV outlets TBA soon. Thrilled to share the trailer.

It was an honor to have my 2009 film about Derek Jarman, Delphinium, presented at the Tate Britain in London on June 24th, in collaboration with the BFI. Thanks to curator Simon McCallum for introducing the program.

Follow the film on Facebook for updates and air times.

In recent months, I also directed new national commercial campaigns for August Home and TCL.

WRAPPED PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE ARTE FILM "ARTUR SCHNABEL: NO PLACE OF EXILE"; ABSENT THEATRICAL TOUR; FILM PROJECTIONS AT MUSIKFEST BERLIN

I recently wrapped principal photography, in Berlin and Vienna, for the TV feature I am directing for Arte/RBB. "Artur Schnabel: No Place of Exile" is now in post-production. A few set stills from the shoot (Arri Alexa + Kodak Super8), below. A European television premiere set for 2017.

In September, Absent opened theatrically in Berlin, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Paris. I had the pleasure of attending all four premieres. Many thanks to the Kino Moviemento in Berlin, the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, the Haifa Cinematheque, and the Coll├Ęge des Bernadins in Paris, for presenting the film. The Paris premiere was a co-presentation of Yahad - In Unum.

Lastly, in September I presented, at Musikfest Berlin, a series of fine art film projections I created for a historic concert of music composed by Artur Schnabel, performed by pianist Markus Pawlik, baritone Dietrich Henschel, and the Szymanowski String Quartet. A version of the program will be repeated in Sils Maria, Switzerland, next summer.

NATIONAL COMMERCIAL CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES; ABSENT MOSCOW PREMIERE

National commercial spots I directed for tech brand August are now running in most US markets. The campaign was produced by Iconoclastic Media.

I also recently returned from screening Absent in Moscow. Thanks to producer Max Gutbrod for organizing this very special Russian Premiere and panel discussion about the transmission and denial of Holocaust history in Eastern Europe. An important conversation is underway.
